Strategically located on the third level, the Media Resource library is well-equipped, with shelves that are stocked with books to cater to our pupils’ wide range of interests.  Reading materials such as magazines, newspapers, fiction and non-fiction books, are available for reading at their own leisure. There is a wide collection of books by famous authors such as Roald Dahl, Julia Donaldson, Shel Silverstein and Beverly Cleary. E-books are installed in the computers for pupils’ online reading. Computers are also available for pupils to carry out their research for project work and assignments.

Readership Awards

Readership awards such as Highest Readership Awards, Class & Individual, are meted out termly, to encourage reading. All pupils are given reading cards; pupils who borrow books regularly from the library, are rewarded with reading badges and tokens.

Collaboration with National Library Board (NLB)

The school works with the NLB on their wide range of reading programmes that encourage participation from a targeted group to all levels. Mass borrowing is held in the school every year.

Activities based on themes, authors and national events are carried out in the library by our library assistant, teachers and pupil librarians. There are pre-assembly talks and book parades on famous writers of children’s books, to create awareness among our pupils and to generate interest in reading. Storytelling using puppets, by our teachers and pupil librarians is also one of our activities.

Library themes/ "Book Buffet"

Pupils participate in library activities like puppet making, writing book reviews and attempting book puzzles or quizzes. Storytelling sessions are conducted by our Reading teachers and pupils, both in English and in Mother Tongue languages, to encourage pupils to read short stories to their peers, on our performing arts stage at the library. On the day of "Book Buffet", pupils get to "befriend" books, both fiction and non-fiction; they are pre-selected and packaged by our library assistant and teachers.

Pupil Librarians

Our pupil librarians are selected to be trained as reading ambassadors and in library management, to assist in making our library a reading haven for our pupils.

Library Skills

Basic and necessary library skills activities are carried out for all levels during weekly Reading periods and assembly talks.
